Curriculum and Impact

Our Curriculum

Helmet Heads has developed a comprehensive, community-focused educational program aimed at engaging and educating second-grade students on helmet safety and proper usage. The curriculum is thoughtfully divided into three key components.

1. Presentation: Volunteers deliver an engaging PowerPoint presentation highlighting the importance of brain protection. The session uses sports role models as examples to inspire students to wear helmets consistently.

2. Demonstration: To illustrate the effectiveness of helmets, we perform the “Coconut Crusher” demonstration. Using a specialized structure, a weight is dropped onto a coconut both with and without a helmet, vividly showing how helmets safeguard our “coconuts” (brains) from trauma-related injuries.

3. Distribution: Each student receives a properly fitted, age-appropriate helmet. Volunteers then teach students the correct way to wear and use their new helmets.

2024 Impact

This year, our events were an outstanding success! Thanks to the incredible efforts of our dedicated volunteers, we provided our curriculum to ten schools and distributed helmets to about 700 students.

We are excited about what’s ahead. Our goal is to continue to expand our impact further by delivering over 1,000 helmets to schools across the region.
